Our Association was founded in 1997 by a group of mother-tongue teachers and aims to show the everyday life and the old traditions of Great Britain and other English speaking countries. We meet once a month, from October to June, in a friendly and informal atmosphere. It’s not a school; it’s ‘Chat & Learn’! Anyone can join, even with only a basic knowledge of English.
The monthly activities always have a specific theme such as history, geography or food for example. Sometimes we are serious, sometimes not so serious but you will always learn something new with The English Club.
We will also let you know about events in English organised during the year, such as traditional dancing or films and theatre shows in English. We can organise trips to the U.K. for small groups or advise about language learning holidays in English speaking countries all over the world.
If you want a more intensive approach to the English language why not join our weekly conversation group? A mother tongue tutor leads discussions at an intermediate-advanced level giving advice for a better use of the language.
The Association also likes to use role play, an excellent way to gain confidence in speaking. This is one of the most popular activities within the English Club and in the past our members have performed many light-hearted English theatre productions.
We are always pleased to welcome new members. We usually meet at 9pm on the third Wednesday of the month but check the web-site for details! All you have to do is send us a mail or just turn up on the night and in return for a small membership fee you will have nine full immersion English language meetings and a lot of new friends!
